Farrier Service
I provide farrier service to southeastern Wisconsin and northeastern Illinois. I service dressage, jumping, rehabilitation cases, and pleasure horses. My approach is individualized for each horse and utilizes an evidence based approach. I honor where each horse is at mentally, physically, and emotionally to feel safe and relaxed during my visits. The body and mind needs to be in a receptive state to fully integrate the hoof care I provide. I am invested in teamwork that is horse centric.
My goal is to restore function for every horse through my approach with the hooves. I have an integrative approach and consider the whole horse in every decision regarding hoof care. I use the appropriate types of hoof protection for each horse given the job, environment, and owner commitment. Metal shoes, pads and packing, boots, composite shoes (glued or nailed or both), casting, and clogs are all materials I am well versed in. Healthy hooves, with all things considered, is important to me.
Barefoot may be the best option and it may not be (I know, that's not what everyone wants to hear. I am pro horse, not pro method.) I assess each individual and come up with a plan with the horse care team to determine how best to make a transition to barefoot so the horse can stay comfortable. I advise a barefoot approach whenever it is possible. Of course, if a horse is barefoot and the structures are healthy, then absolutely let's keep going barefoot.
